Welcome to the blog of Lighthouse Christian Homeschool!

This blog serves three purposes:

1. To have a place to 'jot down' the day to day happenings in our homeschool for our support teacher to see, in hopes that some of the things we do will fit nicely into the provincial learning outcomes.

2. To keep my family up to date on what we're 'up to'.

3. To glorify God.

So on that note, come on in!

Advent Rings and Snowflakes

Yesterday we experienced one of the benefits of homeschooling, the flexibility to take a day off at the spur of the moment. Instead of our regular school day, we spent the day making decorations for Christmas. First we made a paper chain to count down the days 'til Christmas.

Each of the kids drew a picture or a pattern on each paper ring.

They really made some beautiful creations.

Here's the finished chain, ready for the countdown to Jesus' Birthday!
and Caleb ready to take of the first ring.
After the chain was done, we were on to making snowflakes and then Christine and I baked some Candy Cane Boterkoek. We started the Advent Calendars and Readings and Songs and Grandma Millard finished it up with a surprise gift for the kids of a Playmobil Advent Calendar. They were thrilled!
