Welcome to the blog of Lighthouse Christian Homeschool!

This blog serves three purposes:

1. To have a place to 'jot down' the day to day happenings in our homeschool for our support teacher to see, in hopes that some of the things we do will fit nicely into the provincial learning outcomes.

2. To keep my family up to date on what we're 'up to'.

3. To glorify God.

So on that note, come on in!

Scrapbooking?

Rebecca and Caleb have been digging into the scrapbooking supplies. Rebecca made a birthday poster for her friend Emily and they both made a poster for Caleb's wall. As you can see they had lots of fun!

A Glimpse of our Homeschool

Here's a few pics of the kids doing their schoolwork. A quick glimpse into what our mornings often look like.

Christmas 2011

It's always so hard to narrow down the Christmas photos to the few best ones. Here are the ones I liked best. The first bunch are at my parents place:
The kids table
Sarah opening a gift with Rebecca and Angelina excitedly watching

boys + lego star wars = happiness
Rebecca thanking Auntie Alicia and Uncle Dagan for the crocheted hat that Auntie Alicia made for her.
 She loves that hat!
The rest of the photos are of our Christmas celebrations with the Millard's:

Every year we make a sign and take pictures in front of the tree

Rebecca wearing her new scarf from Grandma and Grandpa
my new camera
Rebecca and her new doll..Love at first sight
Christine is totally thrilled with her new puzzle mat carrying case!
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care...all 10 of them.
Merry Christmas to all and to all a Good Night!

Caleb's Drawing

Caleb loves to draw. He has several 'how to' books on drawing. For the picture below he took elements from several different drawings and put them together to create his own 'building'

Christmas Baking Business

Last summer the kids and I had our own baking business. Our neighbour loved it so much that she asked if we'd do an order for her for Christmas baking. We happily agreed! We made a new order form with Christmas goodies and once she placed her order, we got baking! I forgot to take pictures of most of it, but Christine managed to snap a few pictures of Rebecca and I working on the sugar cookies.

Christmas Craft Day

One of the things we like to do in December is host a Christmas Craft Day for our homeschool support group. The girls spend time together doing a Christmas Craft or two. They talk and talk and talk some more. The Moms help the girls, and chat and chat and chat some more. And the boys? They like to play outside (and for good weather we are truly thankful). They run and run and run some more. They play football and soccer and lots of other active games. Teenagers all the way down to little ones, playing together, visiting together, enjoying each other's company. This is homeschooling. This is our support network. These are our friends.

Christmas Production 2011

December 18 was the date of our church Christmas Production. Rebecca was thrilled to sing in the choir and Christine did a reading. We had a fun time practicing and presenting what we had practiced.
